FAQs

How can I contact you?

If you have any questions that are not covered here (or if you just want to say hello!), you can reach me at judyransford@5Junes.com.  Please don't let your question go unanswered - I'd love to hear from you!

When will I receive my order?

Your purchase will ship within 3 business days from the time of order.  You will receive a notification of shipping along with a tracking number from the carrier.  Items are occasionally noted as temporarily out of stock - in these cases the shipping date is noted in the product description.

What is your return policy?

If you’re not 100% satisfied with your purchase you can return within 30 days of the ship date for a full refund.  Simply email info@5Junes.com for a Return Authorization Number (RA#).  Your RA# must be written clearly on the outside of the package, and returns will not be accepted without an RA# and a copy of the receipt/invoice.  International shipping expense is not refundable.  We cannot be responsible for packages lost or damaged in shipping.

How do I know what size to order?

Our clothes come in girls’ sizes 7/8 – 14/16.  You should choose your size based on your girl’s measurements and using our size chart.

  • For tops, pay most attention to the chest measurement (unless her waist is larger than her chest)
  • For pants, pay closest attention to the hip (measure at the widest point).
  • If your girl is tall, pay attention to the height and consider sizing up if her chest/hip indicate a smaller size than her height.

Our tops/cardigans are meant to be drapey and comfortable, and can look quite good when worn “too big”.

  • If you like a drapey look, you may want to order a bigger size for longer wear with growing girls.
  • The girls in our photos are all wearing size M (10/12), despite a range of actual sizes, heights and body types.  My own daughter is shown looking fine in a M, although I would buy a L for her.  Our smallest model could wear a S, but she also looks cute in the M.
  • Our clothes run true-to-size or slightly larger than brands carried in better department stores and boutiques.

Our XL (14/16) is bigger (and longer) than the largest size found in many girls departments.  We included this size based on feedback from moms whose tall 10 or 11 year olds could only fit into juniors/misses sizes.  We’ve heard a need for fashion designed for tweens but will fit girls who have sized out of most girls brands.

Where is 5 Junes clothing made?

We are proud to manufacture our line in the USA!  Our line is designed in the West Suburbs, and manufactured less than 15 miles away in the Humboldt Park neighborhood of Chicago.

How do you set your prices?

All clothing prices are based mostly on the cost of fabric and labor (sewing).  Our brand philosophy is to produce clothes that last, and that feel special and luxurious; which means we use higher quality fabric than many children’s brands.  We are also committed to supporting the revival of the US garment industry and producing our goods in a location that we can visit often and ensure safe, comfortable working conditions and fair wages.   We realize these choices mean our prices are at the high end of the children’s apparel market, and we take less profit as a brand in order to maintain our standards.  We believe there is a market for sustainable, high quality clothing for tweens and are thrilled to provide stylish alternatives for customers who share our values.

Do your clothes fit adults?

We get this question from moms all the time!  The good news is that smaller women can wear our size XL.  Our XL is comparable to size 2 items we found at shops like Anthropologie and Nordstrom.

What makes 5 Junes clothing sustainable?

The fashion industry is the 2nd most polluting industry world-wide, second only to oil.  The industry is also known for human rights abuses stemming from poor working conditions.  As a small independent brand, 5 Junes is free to make choices in our supply chain that minimize these ills.

We strive to choose fabrics that are more environmentally friendly.  We rely heavily on bamboo fiber, which is a highly sustainable plant requiring no fertilizer or pesticide and very little water.  Our bamboo fabrics are certified by our supplier as tested for harmful substances according to Oeko-Tex standard 100.

Our design philosophy is to create clothing that can be worn often and longer.  We build this into quality, sizing, and versatility of design.  One of the fastest ways to reduce the footprint of the industry is to reverse the trend toward consuming fashion as a disposable product.  We strive to deliver clothing that is made to last and with versatility to fill multiple wardrobe needs.

Finally, we strive to keep our supply chain as local as possible.  Our design, manufacturing, warehousing, and distribution facilities all fall within a 15 mile radius in the Chicago area.  Our sewers work in a comfortable work space and earn a fair wage.
